'Transfigurations' is a miniature performance art opera drawing on music spanning from Beethoven to Berg.  The piece explores the constantly changing states of matter, the natural and artificial presence of life, and the inverse nature of tonality.

Artists

Norwegian-American Andreas Hager (Piano / Direction) is a director and producer who has also spent interludes as a pianist and creator of alternate reality games.  He has directed and produced videos, mobile scavenger hunts, and fashion shows.  He is currently the Assistant Artistic Director of Pocket Opera of New York, where he also directs the PONYmobile program, an initiative that creates one-night operatic events in unusual spaces.  Mr Hager's work has won Webby Awards in the Best Weird & Experimental category, and his films have been seen at international festivals and on HBO.  He studied at Oberlin College and at the Mimar Sinan Konservator in Istanbul.

Joel Yapching (Costumes) is a Philippine born fashion designer.  He graduated from Academy Of Art in San Francisco with a degree in Illustration. Yapching launched his menswear line in 2009, BOOK homme and was featured in Mode TV.  His NY Fashion Week presentation for BOOK homme Spring/Summer 2012, was a collaboration with Pocket Opera of New York (PONY), presenting an electronic runway version of Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria.  He has designed costumes for off-Broadway shows including OrestesWonton Destruction, and has done costumes, hair, and makeup for films and music videos.  He is currently the Visual Director for PONYmobile, and has designed Le pauvre matelot and Apollo e Dafne + Monteverdi Madrigals for them.  Upcoming projects include costumes for Manhattan School of Music’s La Calisto.

Shermayne Brown (Soprano) is described as, “very likeable, promising, with a lovely face for the stage and a striking spinto sound, “(Opera UK) She was most recently heard as Nedda in Pocket Opera New York’s controversial production of I Pagliacci. She is a winner of the Harlem Opera Theater Voice Competition and has worked with Brooklyn Conservatory (Mimi, La Boheme), Opera Oggi NY (title role in Suor Angelica), Bronx Opera (Micaela (cover), Carmen), Chelsea Opera, and took part in training programs with such greats as Lauren Flanigan and Martina Arroyo. Ms. Brown is currently a student of Alissa Grimaldi.
